Pogonip is an area of forest and meadows which borders UC Santa Cruz and Henry Cowell Park in Felton, CA.
Pogonip supposedly means "frozen fog" in an Indian language--an Indian tribe that actually lived near Yosemite, not Santa Cruz.
Anyway, it's an area that local environmental groups are rabid about preserving.
We started at the lower end off Hwy 9 and made a loop of about 2 or 3 miles and back to the car. Dan loves to stop and explore, I like to keep moving. His motivation is education and mine is exercise! But we make a good team.
